About us

“To read the world clearly, say what we expect to happen, and keep an honest public record of how often we were right.”

Who we are

The Aggie Geopolitics Club is a student organization at Texas A&M University for people who want to understand how the world’s politics actually move. Our members come from international affairs, economics, engineering, history and everywhere in between; what they share is a habit of reading the news past the headline.

What we do

We meet weekly. Each meeting opens with a World Brief, a short presentation on the events of the week, and moves into discussion. Between meetings, members work in five regional desks — the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia Pacific — following the countries they cover and writing up what they see.

What the desks publish lives on this site. Every assessment states its bottom line first, cites its sources, and ends in a forecast with a date on it.

Why we keep score

Anyone can sound confident about the future. We would rather be calibrated: when we say something is likely, it should happen about as often as we said it would. So every forecast is graded once its date passes, and the results stay on the track record, misses included.

Join us

Membership is open to any Texas A&M student, and no background in the field is expected. Come to a meeting, or request access to the member desk to start contributing.
